Don’t expect to get a degree in philosophy by watching NBC’s The Good Place, but the show makes for good fun nonetheless. It can feel like dipping your toe into a vast ocean and feeling a bit of a tickle by the ripple of the waves. But I digress… The reason I am writing this is to share with those of you who have watched the show, what surprised me the most about the show, in ascending order:

5. When you mix religion and philosophy, hilarity ensues.

4. Philosophy can serve as an aphrodisiac.

3. You can spend countless hours discussing religion and morality without ever needing a “God” to come into the picture.

2. Bureaucracy is eternal.

1.We need more philosophy in pop culture. It sells!
